President John Magufuli Met With Ambassador Wang Ke to Express Tanzania's Support to China in Its Fight Against Novel Coronavirus Outbreak

On 5 February, President John Pombe Magufuli met with Ambassador Wang Ke in Dar es Salaam and handed her a letter of sympathy to President Xi Jinping.

On behalf of the Tanzanian government and people, President Magufuli expressed deep sympathy to the Chinese government and people for their sufferings from the novel coronavirus outbreak. He commended the strong and prompt actions taken by the Chinese government in the fight against the outbreak, saying that China's actions have curbed the spread of the deadly virus globally.

President Magufuli stressed that Tanzania and China are good brothers and all-weather friends, and that during this tough time, Tanzania stands in solidarity with China and is ready to work with China in fighting the epidemic.

Ambassador Wang Ke thanked President Magufuli for the sympathy, trust and support extended to China by the Tanzania side. She said that under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, China's preventive and control measures against the outbreak have yielded positive results, and that the Chinese government and people have full confidence and capability to win the battle against the epidemic.

Ambassador Wang expressed her appreciation of the rational attitude and timely measures taken by Tanzania in preventing the spread of novel coronavirus. She said China is ready to strengthen communication and cooperation with Tanzania, support Tanzania's effort to prevent importation of novel coronavirus cases, and try its best to safeguard the health and safety of Tanzanian nationals in China, especially Tanzanian students in Wuhan.
